The Benefits of Fans with Lighting
Ceiling fans with lights, other than functioning as a valuable light source, have the primary benefit of keeping any room cool. The downdraft from an overhead fan will create an even, pleasant breeze. You can also reverse the rotation of your conservatory fan light in the winter to prevent heated air from rising. Both methods can save you up to 40% on your energy bills.
In addition, by combining fans with lighting, you can improve the overall ambience of your room. Fans with lights are suitable for use in all rooms in the house, including bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, and especially conservatories. Furthermore, they come in a variety of styles to match your decor and are simple to use.
How Do Fans with Lighting Work?
Fan lights are connected to two electrical wires: one that powers the fan itself, the other powering the light. This enables you to switch on the light without turning on the fan, and vice versa. The fan is controlled by a wall switch that sets the speed, though many also come with a remote control. When you turn it on, the electrical wiring feeds into the motor, which controls the fan’s rotation. The blades of the fan then push the air throughout the room, creating an updraft or downdraft depending on the direction of the rotation. At the same time, you will have a separate control for operating the light. As they are connected to different circuits, your light and your fan will not interfere with each other during operation.
